Preparing for your first day at Preshil.

At Preshil, we are committed to providing a positive and supportive learning environment that empowers each individual to reach their full potential. With our tailored transition programs and commitment to building self-awareness and confidence, we believe that each student can start their journey towards lifelong learning on the right foot.

Preshil, known for its commitment to progressive education, recognises the importance of a child’s early learning experience. At Preshil, joining Kindergarten is a gradual and sensitive process that ensures a smooth and positive start for each child.
 
Change can be intimidating for young children, and the Kindergarten at Preshil understands that. The transition program is tailored to each individual child to create an environment that encourages all children to explore and become familiar with their new learning environment. This program also helps children build new relationships with their teachers and peers, setting them up for success in the future.
 
The ultimate goal of the transition program at Preshil is to make sure every child feels safe, happy, and secure. The reduced session times in the first few weeks enable children to relax and absorb their new surroundings at their own pace. They can learn new names, interact with small groups, and have the space and time they need to adjust to an unfamiliar environment.

To ensure a smooth and welcoming start for each student, we have tailored a series of transition events and programs. One of these events is our Orientation Morning, which is an excellent opportunity for all new Primary School students to spend time with their new class and teacher. Our Prep students also get to spend time with their new Prep teacher and our Specialist Teachers at the Arlington Campus, enabling them to build relationships and feel comfortable in their new environment.

Each transition session is an opportunity for children to explore their room and grounds, to meet our teachers and to become acquainted with each other. The following are examples that have occurred in the past.

  • Arlington Transition Morning

At Preshil, we believe that developing a positive sense of self is essential for each child’s journey towards lifelong learning. We recognise that this foundation is crucial, and we strive to create an environment that encourages children to develop their self-awareness and self-confidence.

Our learning routines are designed to foster independent thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Through daily communication and collaborative activities, we provide opportunities for children to develop these skills and apply them in real-life situations.

At Preshil, we are dedicated to fostering a supportive learning community that empowers young people to thrive intellectually, socially and emotionally. We believe in equipping our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently navigate a constantly evolving world.

We recognise the importance of providing ample resources and guidance to ensure a smooth transition into our Blackhall Kalimna Campus. Our approach involves a comprehensive information program, including engaging information evenings, dynamic orientation events and personalised subject selection conversations.

Upcoming Dates

Family Information Night – Tuesday 28 October 6pm – 7pm

Join us for an engaging evening where students and families can meet the dedicated team supporting Year 7 in 2026. Discover the exciting learning opportunities ahead and gain valuable insights into how we foster a smooth and supportive transition into Middle School. 

Orientation Day for 2026 Year 7 cohort – Wednesday 26th November 9am – 3pm

An engaging on-campus experience designed to familiarise students with Middle School and give them a taste of secondary school life.

Summer Solstice Event – All Families welcome – Friday 5 December 3:30pm

The Summer Solstice Event at Preshil is a vibrant community gathering.Come and join us celebrate the end of the school year with music, food and games. 

IT set up week – Wednesday 28th January to Friday 30th January 2026

Families will receive a link to book a 15-minute session with the IT team to set up their child’s device for the school year ahead.
