PRESHIL WEEKLY

Hello Preshil community,

Welcome to another edition of the Weekly!

We’d like to thank our community for a fantastic Term 1 and look forward to continuing 2026 with you.

Senior Art excursion to the NGV
The students studying VCE Art Creative Practice and Art Making and Exhibiting Unit 1 – 4 and students studying IB DP Visual Arts Year 11 and 12 spent the day in the city viewing the folios and artwork in the Top Arts exhibition in the morning as well as visiting the Westwood and Kawakubo exhibition in the afternoon. This was a great opportunity for the students to engage with a wide range of art ideas and processes. The students will now use this inspiration to build on their own studio pieces back at school.

Science, Maths and PE Faculty Updates
At Preshil, our Science, Maths and PE faculty empowers students through meaningful choice, intellectual risk-taking, and independent learning. This reflection offers a snapshot of how students respond when given that opportunity.

Today, our Science A group completed their Genetics assessment. Students were offered three options, including an extension task, with only one online option. All but one student chose a hard-copy format, and many selected the most challenging option, with comments such as, “I may not complete everything, but I’d like to try.”.

Genetics at this level is conceptually demanding, integrating biology, chemistry, and statistics. Students approached this challenge with determination and developed a strong foundational understanding.

Their choices highlight the value of offering opportunities to disconnect from screens and how assessment, when presented in a challenging but constructive way, encourages growth, commitment and persistence. We are incredibly proud of our students!
