PRESHIL WEEKLY
Welcome to the Preshil Weekly!
This week, we indulged in our French-inspired crêpes, culture and the Olympics. It was wonderful to see so many Arlington families come together for this event, with their children delighting in French culture. We were also pleased to have students and staff from BK join in the festivities throughout the day. It’s always a pleasure to have these opportunities to come together as a community of learners, celebrating our Presilian identity through tradition.
Personalised Educational Pathways
Bronte and I worked with our Year 10 students and their families this week to begin developing their personalised pathway planners. This approach supports our young people in considering and discussing their strengths, talents, and interests, and how these might align with potential aspirations after secondary school. The culmination of this process is the individualisation of subject selections that best support each student’s aspirational journey.
Next week, we will begin working with our current Year 9 students in the same process. We look forward to meeting with our students and families as we continue supporting our young people in mapping their pathway planners.
Warm regards,
Aaron Mackinnon
Principal

THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Perfume Masterclass in Electives
Preshil alumna Lucy Borland hosted a French perfume masterclass for the Year 9 and 10 students as part of the electives program at Blackhall. An industry professional with 15 years of experience at Agence de Parfum, Lucy shared her career journey and expertise with the students as they indulged their senses in more than a dozen exclusive scents. She generously explained how her education at Preshil directly influenced her ability to co-create one of Australia’s largest independent niche perfume companies. With a career spanning over 35 years, Lucy has collaborated with some of the finest international creators in the European perfume industry. The students enjoyed the opportunity to take home samples and gain insights into the exciting olfactory industry, learning how they could align their passions and interests with the skills they’ve acquired at Preshil.
A Celebration of French Learning
The Arlington Children put on a performance of French Learning including a surrealist poem (in both French and English), a song in the round, and an all-singing-all-dancing celebration of the Olympics being held in Paris. Thank you to Madame Brin and the Music team for this fun concert.

Kinder Update
The Kindergarten children enjoyed their regular french snack and story time with Madame Brin on Thursday afternoon after an exciting visit to the crepe truck organised by Brin earlier that day.

Year 9 & 10 Science
Year 9 students carried out a Flame test experiment to understand how different elements emit characteristic colors when excited, linking to electron arrangements. Our Year 10 students extracted DNA from Strawberries after learning about the DNA structures Students also created the DNA double helix structure using treats.
Preparations for Book Week at Arlington
Children have been collaborating and working across the school to set up workshops, events and special places to inspire one another for Anthology Week. Everything from storybook matchmaking, writers workshops and special reading nooks, to designing and creating set pieces to inspire; a magical train platform, a book you can walk into and a tree fruiting with books. We hope that you’ll drop by the Hall and the Library in Book week to be inspired by these creations too.

Olympics (Peppercorns Style)
The Peppercorns got into the Olympic spirit by organising a fruit time of Olympic-inspired games in the Front Garden. They worked hard to set up and support our youngest sportspeople to enjoy games together.
